Huggin' the stuffins

Ella has formed an attachment to this cute little chick. (Or is it a duck? Mark and I continue to debate.)

Whenever she sees this *animal* she says "gwak, gwak." Maybe Ella is telling us she thinks he's a duck.

Ella's First Lesson in Lock-Picking

Might I point your attention to a particularly sweet detail:

I love the dimple in her elbow!

Ode to Easter Basket Grass

O Easter basket grass
there's nothing better
'tis true
So many, many uses have you

A jaunty ribbon for my bird

When plucked no sweeter sound can be heard

Splendid spectacles through which to see

O, pink strand you taste so good to me

Like a sweet rose do you smell

Hooray! Easter basket grass, I love you well

Game Night

Ella had a good 'ole time at game night with Liz and Spencer.

She thinks Spencer is one of the funniest people she has ever met. (After Daddy, of course)

And why doesn't Mommy have such interesting shiny objects around her neck like Liz?

Mini Picasso

Hmmm, let's see . . . where's my blue?

Ok, Ella didn't do any of the drawings. But she had fun "helping" her cousins!

Chapter Eleven, In Which Internet Problems Lead To A Slight Delay

Hmmm... I rebooted the router, no luck... let's try power-cycling the cable modem...

Hey, Dad, I think I fixed it! Quick, go do a new post!

So, yeah, we've been having some net difficulties, leading to a lack of posts. Sorry about that, folks! There will be even more exciting baby action soon!

Chapter Ten, In Which Ella Pays Attention To A Very Small Object

In fact, this is a favorite pasttime of hers, paying attention to details. This also means that she must be watched very closely, because any detail she sees might end up being a loose piece of something-or-other, which pretty much always ends up in her mouth.

Special Bonus: Ella Crawls

So Ella just did her first almost-nonstop-across-the-room crawl yesterday! She had previously been doing a few crawl "steps" to get to another toy and then sit down, but the bulk of her "I just have to get to that forbidden object" crawling was done walrus style.

Long-time readers of The Daily Ella might remember an entry made in July of 2004 entitled "Crawling Soon to a Theater Near You". The photo that's posted along with the entry does look like she might be wanting to crawl, but really that was just Adventures In Trying To Hold Your Head Up. On the other hand, I was convinced that she would be crawling soon after that.

I didn't know very much about babies then.

Hmm. I don't really know all that much about babies now.

p.s. - this is edition number 116 of The Daily Ella (wow!)
