I got me the Bear Lake blues

Here we have Lucy Two-Teeth (that's her blues name) preparing to give you some coool blues on a hot, sunny day.

Actually, it was the wind that was giving Lucy the blues; it was cramping her style, breathing-wise.

p.s. - We just got back from a 5 day stint at Bear Lake, which was wonderful. There will most certainly be more beach posts to come.

First Day of (Pre)School!

Number two in an annual series...

This year, Ella is going 3 days a week, for 3 hours. Unfortunately, this doesn't leave her a whole lot of time to work on her doctoral dissertation.

Meow!

One of the great things about this picture is that Ella put those ears on Lucy while they were playing.

Giant Steps

Lucy has made some huge strides in the past week or so...

1) Crawling all over the place - no longer can you depend on her to be Right Where You Put Her. It's equally likely that she'll be in another room, possibly chewing on electrical cords.

2) So big - Lucy is now doing the "sooo big" thing--which is to say, when you ask the All-Important-Question "How big is Lucy", she will raise her hands up in the air while you say "Sooooooooooooo Big".

3) Bye-Bye - When you are holding Lucy, and say "Bye Bye!" to someone and wave, Lucy, in turn, will open and close her hand (okay, sometimes it looks like she's waving at herself), and say something to the effect of "Gak gak" with a very goodbye-ish intonation.

4) And last, but not least... Two, count them, Two Teeth - Lucy has two teeth breaking through in her lower jaw (gum?). So far we seem to have dodged the Teething Crankiness bullet (imagine me knocking wood right now), and the only real sign that she's teething (you know, besides the obvious "look, I can see two teeth breaking through") is that she's doing a whole lot more chewing on things these days.

Contrast this with the number of new skills that I've racked up in the past two weeks: zilch.

She makes me feel like such a slacker.

A Day of Firsts

Today Lucy had two "firsts."

Her first ride in a swing, which she loved.

And . . .
She officially crawled today! Twice! Just a short distance each time, but she stayed on all fours. Go Lucy!
