Lucy Walks!

For the last few days Lucy has been taking one or two tentative steps. But today she threw caution to the wind and went for it.

This video is the second time she walked on her own. I apologize for the darkness and graininess. I was so excited I didn't even think about turning on more lights. I also apologize for my slightly irritating squeals. Again, I was really excited!

Delays

We at the Ella and Lucy Journal offer our apologies for the delay of our Thanksgiving greeting. We are experiencing some severe camera technical difficulties.

Still a Baby

Ella keeps trying to convince us she is still a baby . . .


"Ella, you are such a big girl!"

"You mean baby."

"You can walk and run . . ."

"You mean crawl."

"You’re able to sing and talk . . ."

"You mean babble."

To the untrained ear Lucy's eye and Hi might sound suspiciously similar. But Mom and Dad can always tell the difference.

Germs

Lately we’ve been talking to Ella about germs. We’ve told her that they can make you sick, and the best way to get them off your hands is with soap and water.
Here are some of her suggestions for the germs . . .

“We could catch them with a net. Let’s put them into a cage.”

“Let’s just put them into this box. Or we could make a bed for them in my drawer.”

“I have a pet germ here. He would like to get into this box.”

We’re not sure if she is showing strong empathy for the germs or just trying to get out of washing her hands.

Festival Dancing

This summer we attended a lot of great festivals with Ella and Lucy.
Here is Ella dancing with her friends at one of those festivals. By the way, the "stick" Ella picks up and dances around with is really a piece of plastic trash.
