Happy Thanksgiving!

All of us at the Ella and Lucy journal (including the editorial and photographic staff) wish you a happy Thanksgiving.  We have so very much to be thankful for, especially the family and friends who read this here blog.  We love you!

This is just a little bonus for all of your patience through the years when we have been s-l-o-o-o-w to update.  The rest of the picture was blurry and had rather solemn-looking faces, but the feet were too cute to be left out.

Fun fact:

The average time Lucy and Ella can sit and post for a picture before they start to squirm, whine, and/or run away: 8 seconds.

Happy Birthday, Lucy!

The difficulty with photographing Lucy these days is that she smiles and says "Cheese" *after* you take the photo.

Once again, the theory is proven that cake is best consumed as a full-body experience.  The greater the Lucy-to-cake contact area, the better the taste.

Lucy shows off her new, as-yet-to-be-named baby.  I'm pushing for something cute and old-fashioned, like Bathseba or Jezebel, though I'm pretty sure I'll be overruled on that one.  Either way, Lucy is already quite attached to her.

p.s. - For the historical record, I would like to enter some current Lucyisms:

ha HA!  (with the emphasis on the second ha.  It sounded very sweet until I realized she would say it when Ella got in trouble)

Makin' coffee, Daddy, makin' coffeeeeee!  (Generally said with much gusto.  Lucy loves helping me make coffee.  This is generally followed by her begging to smell my coffee.  She'll hyperventilate through her nose for about five seconds, and then say "aaaaahhhhhhh".)

The dropped initial S
: 'pider, 'tar, 'nail, 'nake, 'tratosphere.

Awwww, she likes you!
: This is said while she is pretending to be a puppy, generally after she has just licked you.  Licked.  For real.  Not pretend-licked.  On the face.  We're working on this.

Simple pleasures

It's the simple things in life that are the most fun... like running around in circles for no apparent reason.

Fistful o' cotton candy

A quiet moment at Lagoon the week before Halloween.  Quiet only because someone had a mouthful of pink spun sugar.

Twinkle, Twinkle Reprise

Longtime readers will remember Lucy's powerful rendition of this moving playroom classic.

Now after seven months of rehearsal, she is back with her latest version of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."

Happy Halloween!

Our resident princesses wish you a happy Halloween.  There was much trick-or-treating and acquisition of candy... luckily there are about 35 houses just on our street, so we didn't have to venture out too far to get a pretty sizable booty.

Photographer's note: having them both in the picture greatly reduces the chance that they'll both have a smile and be looking at the camera.  I really have a lot of respect for those Kiddie Kandids folks.
